Meet Larry
Larry is a firm believer in commitment and accountability.
This was shown in his undergraduate work. He carried a high grade point average and
scored in the top 7% nationally of college seniors in the accounting profession's
standardized colligate exam.
He graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C., with a Bachelor's Degree
in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. His commitment continued as he
began his business career with the firm of Deloitte and Touche, one of the nation's
largest CPA firms. There he gained valuable experience in a wide range of industries
as he progressed through the firm's extensive training program. In 1973, during his
apprenticeship with the firm, Larry received his certification.
The following twelve years were spent in industry where he rose from the position of
Accounting Manager to Vice President of Finance and Chief Finance Officer, before
returning to the practice of public accounting in his own firm. During these years,
Larry obtained significant problem-solving experience and managed a wide variety of
responsibilities in addition to the traditional accounting and tax functions.
Larry felt the calling for small town life and hands-on involvement with individuals
and small businesses. As a result, he opened his practice of accountancy in January
1985. His purpose was to offer "large firm ability" with "small firm efficiency,"
thereby providing cost efficient services for his clients.
From the beginning of his solo practice, Larry has maintained a commitment to quality
services for his clients. He believes that he can provide those quality services by
meeting client needs with knowledge and enthusiasm. A growing number of individuals
and small businesses have trusted their accounting, tax and consulting matters to the
SwartzCPA Firm. Larry now maintains a regular season staff of seven individuals with
an additional three qualified staff during the tax season.
Larry has been active in the community. A primary emphasis has been the Chamber of
Commerce where he served as Director and Treasurer for ten years. He was one of the
founders of the Blue Ridge BBQ Festival, sponsored by the Carolina Foothills Chamber of
Commerce. He was the incorporator and the first president of the Carolina Foothills Chamber
Foundation. Larry has been honored by the Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce as a
"Volunteer of the Year" and has been inducted into the Chamber of Commerce "Hall of
Fame." He has also served on numerous committees and Boards of Directors of a wide
variety of business and Christian organizations over the years.
Larry and his wife, Jeanene, reside in Tryon, N.C. They have two children and five
grandchildren. Larry and Jeanene are active church members at Grace Community
Church.
Larry is licensed in both North and South Carolina, and is a member of the American
Institute of CPAs.
